On the north bank of the river
There’s a place no eyes have seen
It’s neither hell nor heaven
But some lonesome in-between
And I swear I’m gonna find it
If it’s the last fool thing I do
Gonna gather up a jar of dirt
And stumble home to you
Oh honey, don’t you worry
Oh honey, don’t you cry
I’m heading off to find the place
Where the trains go to die
That rusty, ancient railyard
Where the iron horses rest
Some say the ground is cursed there
Some say the ground is blessed
There’s only one track leading in
And none that lead away
I know that I belong there
But I promise not to stay
Oh honey, don’t you worry
Oh honey, don’t you cry
I’m heading off to find the place
Where the trains go to die
And I swear I’m gonna find it
If it means the death of me
To finally cast my doubts aside
And set my spirit free
Oh honey, don’t you worry
Oh honey, don’t you cry
I’m heading off to find the place
Where the trains go to die
I’m gonna find that sacred place
Where the trains go to die

Two-Hearted Man
04:42
|
|||
I’m a two-hearted man
I’m a two-hearted man
And as long as both are beating
I’m dead right where I stand
I’m a two-hearted man
One is knighted, one is blighted
One is fierce, the other quiet
One is open, one is closed
One’s a thistle, one’s a rose
I’m a two-hearted man
I’m a two-hearted man
And as long as both are beating
I’m dead right where I stand
I’m a two-hearted man
One is living, one is dead
One is silver, the other one’s lead
One flies above, one lies beneath
One has lips, and the other has teeth
I’m a two-hearted man
I’m a two-hearted man
And as long as both are beating
I’m dead right where I stand
I’m a two-hearted man
One is water, one is salt
When one is broken, it’s the other one’s fault
So tear me open and reach inside
Pull out the one that tries to hide

April May...
03:44
|
|||
April marches over
With a fleece around her shoulders
For the silver wind is cold against her back
She touches down on velvet grass
To watch the flourish come to pass
Recovering from winter’s last attack
And she may not remember
Last October and November
Every red and yellow ember of the fall
Oh but April, she is clever
She is lighter than a feather
Never caring whether anyone remembers her at all
Oh April, she is wistful
Pulling daisies by the fistful
She’s just looking for a chance to break the rules
And June may be the mother
Of the brides and all their lovers
Oh but April is the queen of all the liars, thieves and fools
Where finches fly and rabbits run
You’ll find her flirting with the sun
Then getting lost behind a veil of grey
She’s the sly and rainy mistress
Of the summer, bored and listless
Here to wash her feet and slowly skip away
April may surrender
To her heart so young and tender
But those misty eyes will never be enough
For April may be pretty
And her conversation witty
Oh, but April, she is not the one I love
No April, she is not the one I love

Kaw-Liga
03:49
|
|||
Kaw-liga was a wooden Cherokee
Standing by the door
He fell in love with a Choctaw maiden
Over in the antique store
Kaw-liga
Just stood there and never let it show
So she could never answer yes or no
He always wore his Sunday feathers
And held a tomahawk
The maiden wore her beads and braids
And hoped someday he'd talk
Kaw-liga
Just stood there and never showed a sign
Because his heart was made of knotty pine
Poor old Kaw-liga, he never got a kiss
Poor old Kaw-liga, he don't know what he missed
Is it any wonder that his face is red
Kaw-liga, that poor old wooden head
Kaw-liga was a lonesome Cherokee
Never went nowhere
His heart was set on the Choctaw maiden
With the coal-black hair
Kaw-liga
Just stood there and never let it show
So she could never answer yes or no
And then one day a wealthy customer
Bought the Choctaw maid
He carried her off so far away
But old Kaw-liga stayed
Kaw-liga
Just stood there as lonesome as could be
And dreamed that he was still an old pine tree
Poor old Kaw-liga, he never got a kiss
Poor old Kaw-liga, he don't know what he missed
Is it any wonder that his face is red
Kaw-liga, that poor old wooden head
Kaw-liga was a wooden Cherokee
Standing by the door
He fell in love with a Choctaw maiden
Over in the antique store
Kaw-liga
Kaw-liga

Separate Stones
04:47
|
|||
I am mine, and you are yours
Even though we were joined before the Lord
But still I want you to leave your mark
And hope that we will never be a day apart
For the edges of our earthly hearts
Were carved from separate stones
But the pieces fit together nonetheless
And I confess to you, my darling
That I sometimes feel alone
But I know that I have been forever blessed
And as we wander through the maze
May this torch burn ever brighter by the day
Here in the swallow of the dark
I am the flint, He is the steel, and you’re the spark
For the edges of our earthly hearts
Were carved from separate stones
But the pieces fit together nonetheless
And I confess to you, my darling
That I sometimes feel alone
But I know that I have been forever blessed
And as the thread winds tighter on His finger
I can hear the morning bells a-ringing out
We are threads that He has bound together
Bound by blood, bound by joy, bound by doubt
For the edges of our earthly hearts
Were carved from separate stones
But the pieces fit together nonetheless
And I confess to you, my darling
That I sometimes feel alone
But I know that I have been forever blessed
Oh my love is a violent work of art
Oh your love is a violent work of art
Oh His love is a violent work of art
Oh yes, love is a violent work of art
Oh my love is a violent work of art
Oh your love is a violent work of art
Oh His love is a violent work of art
Oh yes, love is a violent work of art
